QuickDraw®

QuickDraw® eliminates most of the problems associated with extracting oil samples.

Conventional sampling methods

  • External contamination impossible to control
  • Samples taken after the system is shut down. Cool or cold sample means the particles are no longer dispersed.
  • Very slow
  • If the fluid is hot it can cause a safety problem

QuickDraw®

  • Provides a representative sample all of the time
  • No external contamination. Airborne contaminants can't get to the sample
  • Takes 1/3 less time of other methods
  • QuickDraw® is safe

Red Cap

Red Cap was developed for mobile equipment applications. It is a pressure valve with a red anodized push button.

Vampire®

We are providing the Vampire® pump for sampling non-pressurized systems. We also provide tubes; 54", 72", or 100" rolls. We are developing a faster method for extracting samples form non-pressurized systems.

The Vampire® pump is used for non-pressurized systems. The cap attaches to your jar. A tube is inserted into the pump and the other end into the oil fill/dipstick to extract a sample. Vampire® is a registered trademark of Easy-Vac.

Installing Valves

Safety first! Install the valve where it is safe for the technician to take a sample. Oil samplers are hot. Wear gloves and appropriate safety apparel when taking samples.

  • The most effective oil samples are of oil/fluid at or near operating temperature, and before filtration.
  • Do NOT install a valve in a high pressure line.
  • While the methods we produce are safe, we recommend that gloves be worn for all sampling methods.

Compressors, Hydraulics, Turbines:

  • Install the valve in the low pressure side of the system. In systems using filters on the suction side, install the valve before the fluid is discharged to the reservoir.

Natural Gas Engines:

  • We recommend the stainless steel valve in 1/4 or 1/8 NPT for NG Engines.
  • Install at the inlet to the lube filter system

Diesel Engines:

  • Follow engine manufacturers recommendations or Install the valve at the inlet to the filter

While the valves are safety tested at 1000 psi, a technician would be unable to extract a sample safely at high pressures. The maximum safe pressure for sample extraction is 100 psi or lower. The average pressure at the recommended locations is 60 psi.

8 Steps to a more Representative Oil Sample

Install the valve in a pressurized system upstream of the filter; at the inlet if possible

Screw QuickDraw® cap on your sample jar

Unscrew safety cap on the valve

Insert QuickDraw® needle into the valve. Fill jar to about 3/4 full

Remove needle. Screw on the valve safety cap

Remove QuickDraw® from the sample jar (dispose of the cap/tube/needle assembly. Do no reuse.)

Replace the jar lid

Identify the sample on the appropriate labels. It is ready to go to the lab.
